I know you’re wondering what my personal favourites were. So tough – but here are my top five:

Kentucky Derby Pie Cupcakes, Caramel Apple Cupcakes, S’mores Cupcakes, Raspberry Pinot Noir Lamington Cupcakes, Mac and Cheese Cupcakes.

I don’t think that there are any that I wouldn’t make again, but I can see myself getting serious cravings for the Cheese Cupcakes with Smoky Tomato Buttercream,  the Raspberry Double Chocolate Cupcakes, the Blueberry Streusel Cupcakes, and the French Toast Cupcakes. Notice how five of my top ten come from Week Two? As my colleague Shariqa put it: “That was a good week”. And I’ve already made the Chilli Cheeseball mixture again, but I added extra ranch dressing and baked it in a dish with breadcrumbs and cheese on top and served it as a hot dip.

You’re also wondering whether I put on any weight in May? I didn’t. No idea how.

And what were my taste testers top five? I put it to the vote, and they answered:

Tiramisu Cupcakes, Cookie Monster Cupcakes, Jam Donut Cupcakes, Chai Cupcakes, Caramel Apple Cupcakes.

Pretty good going – three of these five are gluten-free! Other honourable mentions went to Kir Royale Cupcakes, Mac and Cheese Cupcakes, Cappuccino Cupcakes and S’mores Cupcakes.

How about the power of pictures? All of the photos were taken with my iPhone 6 – which is a testament to the camera’s power! Based on Facebook, Instagram and Blipfoto, here are the top five:

Aviation Cupcakes, Kir Royale Cupcakes, Mallowpuff Cupcakes, Caramel Apple Cupcakes, and Cookie Monster Cupcakes.

So having done some completely untrustworthy statistical analysis, I can pronounce that the best of the 31 Flavours is: Caramel Apple Cupcakes – favoured for looks and taste alike. I’m pretty proud of these because they had an edgy flavour – chestnut, apple, rosemary and salted caramel, and it’s one of the recipes that is completely my own!

By the way, Cookie Monster came in second – which only goes to show what being cute can do.

What about June?

Well, as we layer up for the Melbourne winter, I’ll be layering up too – with cake! June is all about cakes with layers – fun layers, edgy gastronomic layers, and full on comfort layers. Can’t wait to show them to you!
